Hypothetically speaking how would you board a capsuleer ship, what dangers would you expect to face, what would you bring, how many men, what gear?
Gimme the most detailed plan ever!

I would put together a platoon sized unit, with the intent to hijack a freighter, and eject its cargo for friendly ships to pick up.
Small tackle ships would engage the target and get a tackle on it, preventing warp and movement.
Small umbilical cords from a small cruiser sized ship would be attached, and the 24 man team would board.
The first boarding team would be equipped with riot shield and Scrambler or Hard hitting armour piercing fire arms depending on defender equipment, the would breach the ship and secure a deployment zone.
Faster moving Assault oriented teams would then seize the ships engine rooms, crew compartments, and cargo bays ejecting the cargo into space for allied freighters/ industrial ships to either burn or pick up.

You need to get to the capsuleer fast, quick, and hard. I would say a single squad of stealthy shotgun scouts. Run through the corridors and take out anything that gets in the way.
Why so fast? Well, if you board any of my ships (subcaps, I don't fly capitals) I would much rather self destruct than let it fall into the hands of my enemies. I am immortal, and I don't care about my crew, they knew what they were signing up for (there is a chronicle somewhere about starship crews, the smallest life expectancy of any occupation).
The question is, how do you take out the capsuleer, and what do you do if you succeed. If I sense a breach and can't self destruct, then I will just eject. If not, then you still need to find a way to breach the hyper advanced pod, which once happens will kill me and transfer my consiousness over to a new clone. No matter what happens, you can bet I will exact my revenge. And a few measly warbarges are no match for my artillery the size of minivans.
Fair call. I would however attempt to seize whichever part of the ship controls the self destruct action, maybe the engines?
If possible Jammers could be placed to elimate the possibility, if you did eject then that would be fine, we'd take your gear and leave. Its entirely possible we have spare tacklers to gets your pod, if you aren't fast enough when escaping, which you probably are.

Its entirely possible we have spare tacklers to gets your pod, if you aren't fast enough when escaping, which you probably are. Ah, your just in it for my stuff. For some reason I thought you were trying to kill me (a lot of good that would do). All you had to do was ask, I will gladly eject whatever scraps I have in my cargohold. The stuff on the outside of the ship is what is expensive (MWD, Guns, etc.). The only way you are getting that is if you can dock it at a station. But then comes the issue of who is going to fly it. Once my pod is outta the way, you are going to need another to replace it to operate the ship. If you have capsuleer friends, well good for you, mission success. If not, well I do, and I know how to use locator agents .
Well killing you would do nothing but inconvenience you somewhat, I place no value on your capsuleers life, it means nothing. Bust a clean job, ISK wise, fast and efficient, that would be a great heist. EDIT- Removed elaborate idea.....

Dagger-Two wrote:Couple of problems:
1) Entering the ship - Blowing a hole with remote explosives? Good luck with that. The armour can withstand hits from starship weaponry, nothing you can carry on your person will scratch it (well, I shouldn't say nothing, but the things you could carry would annihilate you as well). Drone bays are also closed when not in use, plus the ship is shielded. If you're entering through existing holes in the ship done by weapons fire, the ship is on verge of destruction anyways.
2) Hacking anything on the ship - ...how exactly? The capsule interface gives a pilots nervous system a direct link to all major systems of the ship. It is the most advanced piece of electronic technology in New Eden. Capsuleer ships can withstand the potent viruses that Sansha use during incursions to cripple empire vessels, so how exactly do you hope to do it?
3) The moment you land on the hull, the capsuleer knows. He can FEEL your footsteps on his metal skin. He would feel pain at any attempts you made to cut into him. You assume he is just the pilot of the ship, but you're wrong. He IS the ship, and by that same token he can put any sort of creative uses to his ships systems. No reason he couldn't pass massive current through the hull, iradiate everything, overload energy or plasma conduits in specific sections to kill you. You would be dead long before you could reach anything resembling a self destruct console.
As much as I know DUST players love the idea of boarding capsuleer ships, lore-wise it is extremely unrealistic
I am sure there are ways, should a breach be able to be made we have not evidence to suggest that once something is placed in the breach the armour wont heal round the umbilical, allowing for boarding, or simply a device designed to penetrate the hull then disgorge troops once the breach is repaired.
No reason to again suggest that we cannot use various forms of EWAR gear from withing the ship to cripple internal functions.
I know how capsuleers integrate with the ship, well aware of it, and I am not saying the capsuleer would make it easy. But I doubt the internal superstructure of the ship would be as strong defensibly as the external plating, once inside the vessel I believe it would be vastly easier to access and damage the vessel....though this is mere speculation.

Iron Wolf Saber wrote:Attention Fleet I am being boarded, I am now primary target. take me out.
Also Capsuleers are suberb hackers which is why they're typically used to fight rogue drones because the drones are nasty buggers known for hacking regular ships.
Would that matter to clones.
For example I could see this happening to isolated Freighters....if a fleet did turn up, you turn tail and the mercs can remain aboard the vessel until friendlies are forced to destroy it.

THIS IS ACCURATE IF DUST HP CORRELATES WITH EVE HP :)
It does not.

Maken Tosch wrote:According to the lore, the vast majority of these Eve Online ships still have a standard crew despite being operated mainly by a Capsuleer. Frigates might have only one person but a destroyer or bigger will definitely have a crew of their own. And don't expect that crew to be unarmed.
The link posted by Mobius said about 1500 crewmen, but I doubt many of that number will be proficient in combat, maybe half at best, and fewer still will be outfitted to deal with dropsuits and the advanced technology we have.
(( we are effectively space marines))

Isnt that what we would want? We essentially destroyed a capsuleers ship.
